Dr. Shanks, a native of Middle Tennessee, graduated from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis. He has extensive experience in family eye care seeing patients of all ages. Dr. Shanks’ specialty is providing a warm patient-caring practice. He is a member of the American Optometric Association and is active in his church, Providence Baptist Fellowship. As a Gideon, Dr. Shanks has taken an annual mission trip to inner city New York to distribute Bibles since 2005. Dr. Shanks is very proud of his five grandchildren Emily, Katie, Mason, Jackson, and Owen.

Dr. Kate Raynor is a Florida native who relocated to Middle Tennessee in 2021. She received her Bachelor in Health Science Degree from the University of Central Florida. She went on to receive a Bachelors in Vision Science and Doctorate of Optometry from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Dr. Raynor specializes in comprehensive eye care for all ages, contact lenses, and dry eye disease management. Dr. Raynor enjoys working out, paddle boarding, quality time with her family, friends, and goldendoodle, and cheering on the Titans.

Brandon became our practice/lab manager shortly after the establishment of Shanks Eye Center. He oversees the operation of the office/lab to make sure everything runs smoothly. He stays current on the latest in high-tech lens materials and new styles of progressive lenses. Outside of work, Brandon is extremely active in his church, Parkway Baptist. He is involved in Upward Basketball.

Valerie greets everyone with a warm, friendly, big smile and does that before the front door completely shuts. Besides making patients feel welcome, she schedules patients for their eye care and coordinates with insurance companies to make sure the patient is eligible for covered services.
